About

River Parishes Community College, located in Sorrento, Louisiana, was founded in 1997 through the approval of a measure passed in State Senate. The school was established in recognition of the lack of a community college system, and the few such schools operating in the state, though it was among the most populous in the Union. The school, along with six others, forms the Louisiana Community and Technical College System which is responsible for the operation and funding of two year institutions throughout the state.

Academics

River Parishes Community College offers students a variety of programs that allows them to choose the path that best suits their goals. Academic transfer programs allow students to complete the first two years of a bachelor's degree, followed by applying for transfer to four year institutions in order to continue their studies and earn their degree. Career training programs provide individuals with an education in an industry or field with the intention of seeking long term employment upon completion. Programs take between one and two years to complete and result in a degree or certificate.
