About
Rowan - Cabarrus Community College, located in Salisbury, North Carolina, was founded in 1960 in response to a chamber of commerce report demonstrating areas of technical need that were lacking in the community. As a result, voters of Rowan county approved a bond of 500,000 for the purchase of land and construction of what would be known as Rowan Technical Institute through community college-technical institute act, which allowed for the expansion of programs beyond the original seven. Over the course of the school's history, it has updated its program offerings and expanded its focus, resulting in several name changes, the most recent of which has led to the current and best describes the school's mission and service area. The school serves over 20,000 students a year across four campuses and is one of the 58 schools that comprise the North Carolina Community College System.
