Sauk Valley Community College, located in Dixon, Illinois, was founded in 1965. The school is an open enrollment two year institution providing transfer opportunities and career education. The school serves about 5000 students annually and its service areas include the counties Lee, Henry, Bureau, Ogle, Whiteside and Carroll. The school is also located near a number of historical sites, including Ronald Reagan's birthplace and boyhood home.
Academics
Sauk Valley Community College offers students career and transfer opportunities through a variety of programs designed to assist in meeting student goals. Career programs provide students with the training and knowledge necessary to enter the workforce as professionals. Graduates of these programs will earn a certificate or associate degree, demonstrating one's qualifications and allowing one to obtain an entry level position immediately after completion of the program.
Transfer programs complete the first two years of a four year education at a low cost. Once completed, students will be able to apply to a college or university of their choosing. Different colleges and universities have different standards for transfer admission, and students should meet with an academic advisor in order to determine their curriculum for transfer.

Admissions and Financial Aid
As an open enrollment institution, students meeting the minimum requirements for admissions. Students must complete the application for admission, after which it is recommended that new students participate in orientation and meet with an academic advisor to plan their curriculum. Registration takes place shortly before the start of each semester.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans and grants. Students in need of financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as other supporting applications which will then be used to determine need, eligibility and awards. Students may be asked for additional financial information prior to the disbursement of funds in order to ensure informational accuracy.
