Culinary Arts Program

The culinary arts program at South Central College prepares students for a career as an executive chef, restaurateur, food and beverage manager, food writer, research chef, or a culinary educator. The program focuses on cooking related services in restaurants and other commercial food establishments. Program courses include: recipe and menu planning, preparing and cooking foods, supervising and training kitchen assistants, managing food supplies and kitchen resources, food presentation, and a variety of cuisines and culinary techniques. South Central College (SCC) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and has two main campuses, Faribault, MN, and North Mankato, MN, in addition to an online campus located at online.southcentral.edu.

SCC offers more than 50 Liberal Arts and Science majors in the following subjects:

  • Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technology

SCC’s Liberal Arts and Science programs allow for credits to be easily transferred to 4-year colleges or universities and can be completed in two years for full-time students. Certificate programs or those with a diploma may be completed in a shorter time period.

All applicants applying to SCC must have a high school diploma/GED or if an applicant has no diploma/GED, he or she should demonstrate potential for being a successful student.

Tuition for on-campus courses, including all fees, was $180 for the most recent surveyed year. Meanwhile, the online course tuition plus fees was approximately $212 per credit.
