Dental Assistant Program

The dental assistant program at South Central College prepares students for a career in a dental office, dental supply manufacturer, hospital dental department, or insurance company. The program focuses on preparing patients and equipment for dental procedures, and office administrative functions. Program courses include: medical record-keeping, general office duties, reception and patient intake, scheduling, equipment maintenance and sterilization, basic radiography, pre and post-operative patient care and instruction, chairside assisting, taking tooth and mouth impressions, and supervised practice. South Central College (SCC) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and has two main campuses, Faribault, MN, and North Mankato, MN, in addition to an online campus located at online.southcentral.edu.

SCC offers more than 50 Liberal Arts and Science majors in the following subjects:

SCC’s Liberal Arts and Science programs allow for credits to be easily transferred to 4-year colleges or universities and can be completed in two years for full-time students. Certificate programs or those with a diploma may be completed in a shorter time period.

All applicants applying to SCC must have a high school diploma/GED or if an applicant has no diploma/GED, he or she should demonstrate potential for being a successful student.
