Welding Program

The welding program at South Central College prepares students for careers as welding engineers, manufacturing engineers, application engineers, sales engineers, and project engineer or manager. The program focuses on applying technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. Program course include: arc welding, resistance welding, brazing and soldering, cutting, high-energy beam welding and cutting, solid state welding, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, oxidation-reduction reactions, welding metallurgy, welding process and heat treating, structural design, safety, and codes and standards. South Central College (SCC) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and has two main campuses, Faribault, MN, and North Mankato, MN, in addition to an online campus located at online.southcentral.edu.

SCC offers more than 50 Liberal Arts and Science majors in the following subjects:

• Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
• Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technology

SCC’s Liberal Arts and Science programs allow for credits to be easily transferred to 4-year colleges or universities and can be completed in two years for full-time students. Certificate programs or those with a diploma may be completed in a shorter time period.

All applicants applying to SCC must have a high school diploma/GED or if an applicant has no diploma/GED, he or she should demonstrate potential for being a successful student.

Tuition for on-campus courses, including all fees, was $180 for the most recent surveyed year. Meanwhile, the online course tuition plus fees was approximately $212 per credit.
