South Piedmont Community College is part of the North Carolina System along with 57 other comprehensive colleges. It has four campuses that serve the residents of Union County and Anson County, North Carolina. One of these is located in Polkton, NC 28135.

This school places learning at the center of its academic services and prides itself as a learning college. SPCC creates an environment that fosters self-discovery to cultivate student's critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Learning is facilitated in as many ways as possible utilizing the most efficient methods and it is continually enhanced to maintain high standards. Moreover, students are encouraged to fully participate in the learning process.

With a goal to produce successful students and instigate community development, SPCC offers quality and accessible education with more than 90 programs to choose from. These programs can guide students to the right direction whether they intend to pursue a Bachelor's degree or start a career in the industry. Graduates are assisted in transferring to four-year institutions with established articulation agreements.

Selected classes are delivered through distance learning including online, blended, web-enhanced, interactive television, and video courses. Aside from the degree programs, other trainings for workforce development and continuing education courses are also offered such as Early College, Adult Basic Education, GED and Adult High School, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Compensatory Education programs. All these are designed in response to the current industry and workforce needs.

SPCC Career Services support students in determining their career path. Students are provided with career counseling, career assessments and workshops. This office also provides students with job resources such as Virtual Career Library, career related links and annual Career Connections Fairs.
