Computer Programming Degree
The computer programming degree program at Southwestern College – Chula Vista prepares students to learn software installation, maintenance, and methods and procedures of software design and programming by focusing on the general writing and implementation of computerized programs of operating systems. Southwestern College – Chula Vista

Southwestern College is a public, two-year community college in southern San Diego County. Its 156-acre campus is situated halfway between the city of San Diego and the U.S.-Mexico border. Southwestern College offers more than 300 associate's degrees and vocational certificates. The college offers associate's degrees in more than 130 different majors, and Career Technical Education Certificates in more than 100 majors. Many non-credit courses are also available to for continuing personal and professional development.
Many students attending Southwestern College are preparing to transfer to four-year colleges or universities where they will complete their bachelor's degrees. Southwestern College consistently ranks in the top 100 among community colleges for the number of associate degrees conferred.
Southwestern College is ranked 24th among community colleges in the nation for minority students.
The college is in the final stages of planning before construction of a Child Development Center that will serve roughly 120 children daily. It will feature six classrooms and many observation rooms for college students enrolled in the Child Development Programs.
Southwestern recently launched its Cultural Exchange Excursion program, with an excursion that took participants to China.

History
Southwestern College was founded in 1961. Since 1964, it has received accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

A new child development center is soon to begin construction, and Southwestern College also plans construction of a Family Resource Center within the educational village at its Higher Education Center in National City.
Southwestern College was designated a "Best Small Business Support Organization" by the San Diego Supplier Development Council. The designation was given for the efforts of the college's Contracting Opportunities Center that liaises with small businesses in the community.
