Spartanburg Community College

Spartanburg Community College, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, was established in 1963and serves the areas of Union, Cherokee and Union. Originally known as Spartanburg Technical College, the school was renamed in 2006 to better reflect its role and offerings. The school plans to open a second Campus in downtown Spartanburg beginning in fall 2013 as part of the schools efforts to reach out to areas and residents that are unable to reach the current campus. The school is one of sixteen that comprise the South Carolina Technical College System.

Academics

Spartanburg Community College offers a variety for programs for interested and aspiring students. Transfer programs prepare students for entry into a four year institution by allowing them to complete the first two year of a bachelor's degree followed by transfer of credits and the student to a college or university to complete the final two years and earn their degree. Career training programs prepare students for entry into the workforce by providing skill development and education in order to be able to operate in the chosen industry or field as a professional. Programs take two years to complete and result in a certificate or degree that demonstrates competency.
