State Fair Community College, located in Sedalia, Missouri, was founded in 1966 to serve the residents within the Sedalia's Community College District. The school serves 14 counties, and has since its inception grown and expanded its offerings to meet the needs of residents and the communities it serves. The school's name resulted from submissions by residents, upon the review of which State Fair was chosen. The school has four campuses in addition to the main campus to ensure that it provides full service to the community. The school is dedicated to providing the best education possible, reviewing and upgrading programs, courses, facilities and services as need to stay relevant and current.
Academics
State Fair Community College offers a number of programs that provide academic transfer and career training opportunities. Academic transfer programs allow students to complete lower division courses related to a major, including the required general education courses, of a four year education, followed by transfer to a college or university to complete a bachelor's degree. Public schools within Missouri have agreements in place with the school to maker transfer easy. Students may instead choose to apply to private or out of state schools, though it is recommended they meet with an academic advisor to plan a curriculum to best suits the transfer requirements of the school or school's desired.
Career programs offer the training necessary to become a professional within the workplace of a given field. Students will learn the skills and abilities required through practical and classroom courses. Such programs take between one and two years to complete, resulting in an associate degree or certificate that allows for the immediate pursuit of employment at the entry level. Many of the programs offered reflect the job needs of the community and the school offers job placement assistance to make finding employment easier.

Admissions
State Fair Community College is an open enrollment institution, allowing any students who meet the minimum requirements for admission entry to the school upon completion of the application for admission. Students must also provide transcripts from previous schools and standardized test scores and may be asked to take a placement exam. New students should participate in orientation and meet with a counselor prior to registration to discuss career goals, program entry and curriculum.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students needing financial assistance should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will be used to determine financial needs, aid program eligibility and monetary awards. Student are required to reapply for financial aid prior to the start of each academic year and may be asked to provide additional financial documentation to ensure the SAR's accuracy prior to the disbursement of funds. Students may also pursue external scholarships, offered for a variety of reasons. Such scholarships must be applied for separately.
