Tallahassee Community College, located in Tallahassee, Florida, was founded 1966 by the Florida Legislature. The school is part of the Florida College System, which is comprised of 28 schools that serve as two or four year educational institutions. Located in the state's capital, the school is geographically close to Florida State University and Florida A&M University. The school serves three counties, Leon, Wakulla, and Gadsen. Opportunities are also available for students to receive four year degrees from Flagler College, Barry University, Embry Riddle, or Saint Leo University while taking classes at Tallahassee Community College. The school serves approximately 18,000 students a year, and is dedicated to providing students the best education possible, doing so by reviewing community needs, program offerings and updating buildings and facilities as needed.

Academics
As a community College, TCC offers a large number of programs and courses reflecting the needs of the community, allowing students to pursue an academic or career path that best suits their needs. These programs will either result in an associate's degree or certificate, based on the program's length and course offerings. Academic transfer programs will have students taking courses and fulfilling general education requirements related to their desired major, fulfilling the freshman and sophomore years of a four year education. Once completed students will be able to transfer to a four year institution to complete their bachelor's degree, particularly to four year institutions within the Florida College System due to agreements in place between member schools. Career and technical programs prepare students for entry into the workforce immediately after graduation as professionals. Such programs will impart the skills and abilities necessary to obtain entry level work positions, and are generally reflective of the needs of the community the college serves.

Non-credit courses are also offered for individuals who wish to pursue personal interests without being restricted by tests, classwork or homework. Such courses are less expensive than their credit giving counterparts, and do not require admission to the school to participate.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Tallahassee Community College is an open enrollment institution which accepts all students that meet the minimum requirements for admission. Students should apply online, submitting all pertinent information, as well as providing transcripts and standardized test scores. Once admitted students should meet with a counselor to outline one's academic or career goals and to set forth a path to assist in their realization. Registration for courses takes place shortly before each semester begins and tuition is due shortly thereafter.

Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans, work study programs, and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must obtain a federal PIN as well as complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), from which the resulting student aid report will be used to determine need, eligibility and awards. Athletics
The Tallahassee Community College Eagles participate in intercollegiate athletics through the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Intercollegiate athletics provide students a forum to engage in healthy competition, encouraging personal excellence and teamwork. Students participating in such programs obtain valuable experience and skills that are applicable to one's education and career, as well as form bonds with others through the sharing of unique experiences. Such competitions also allow non-participating students, faculty and residents of the area to come together in support of their team, school and community.
