History

Temple College was formerly known as Temple Junior College.  TC was found in 1926 in Temple, Texas as a means to fulfill the education needs of the city and the surrounding area. The college was formed through the efforts of civic authorities, local business and leaders in education.

As enrollment at the school increased, the need for a permanent campus became evident.  In 1957, a unique junior college district was established by the Department of Education in Texas.  Over time the course offerings and campus expanded which resulted in the dropping of the “junior” from the name to better reflect the schools purpose.  Temple College currently operates five off campus locations to further its educational opportunities to the community.  TC has several education partnerships to assist in developing learning programs.

Academics

Temple College provides a wide variety of programs to suit the needs of community. Associate, transfer, and vocation programs are offered alongside continuing education, adult education and cultural development courses. Career and technical programs prepare students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the work force immediately after graduation.

Academic transfer programs allow the student to complete the first two years of a four year education at Temple College, followed by transfer to a four year institution to complete the remaining two years. The school prides itself on its high quality of education and its ability to serve the city and surrounding areas.

Adult and continuing education courses, as well as cultural development programs, provide adults with the opportunity to pursue educational opportunities, often with flexible schedules and a focus on specific classes. Individuals interested in such courses may peruse the offerings available online or through the school's course catalog.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in attending Temple College should complete the online application. Applications will be processed as received, followed by notification from the school identifying when registration and start dates are. Financial aid is available in the form of grants and loans.

Any student in need of aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility and awards. Scholarships may also be available and generally require a separate application for consideration. Scholarships may be awarded for reasons other than need, and are usually defined in the scholarships mission.
