Weatherford College, located in Weatherford, Texas, traces its origins to 1869 to the construction of Phoenix Masonic Lodges school. The first graduating class was in 1876, and the school was sold to the Weatherford Methodist Episcopal Church, SOuth, in 1889, which changed the name of the school to Weatherford College. over the next two decades the school went through a variety of owners and name changes, eventually taking on the role of Junior College in 1921.The school was temporarily merged with Southwestern University of Georgetown, Texas, but was given its own Junior College District in Parker County. The school has been in operation for over 130 years, always with the dedication to providing the best education possible for its students.
Academics
Weatherford College offers a wide variety of programs that provide career and transfer opportunities for students. Career training programs provide education in one's chosen field, allowing entry into the workforce as a qualified professional upon completion. Students will be provided a mixture of classroom and practical courses, learning the methods and techniques necessary for successful completion of one's duties in the field. Programs typically take between one and two years to complete and result in a certificate or degree which demonstrates competency in one's field and is useful in the pursuit of employment.
Academic transfer is accomplished by completing the first two years of a four year education followed by applying to one's desired school or schools to transfer their credits and continue their pursuit of higher education by completing the final two years and earning one's bachelor's degree. Students transferring to a public Texas institution will have an easier time through agreements in place that guarantee admission if certain academic requirements are met. Private and out of state schools will have varying requirements that should be researched if one wishes to transfer to such an institution.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Weatherford College is an open enrollment institution that admits any individuals that provides a completed application and pays all accrued fees. Students should also supply transcripts and test scores, which may be used in lieu of a placement exam. Students are also encouraged to meet with a counselor to discuss goals and assist in program choice as well as participate in new student orientation to familiarize themselves with the campus.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must submit a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the information from which will be used by the school to determine the need, program eligibility and awards for the student. Aid must be reapplied for prior to each academic year.
