Wharton County Junior College was founded in 1946 in Wharton, Texas. The school operates three satellite campuses in addition to the main campus in Wharton. These campuses are located in Richmond, Sugarland, and Bay City. WCJC offers quality educational opportunities to its service community and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Wharton County Junior College provides residents with low cost education, career assistance, and community development, and is constantly improving course offerings and facilities to meet the needs of students in a constantly changing environment.

Academics

Wharton County Junior College provides degree, certificate and continuing education programs for its community. Certificate and technical degree programs provide training for careers, allowing graduates to begin immediately. Certificate programs tend to be short than degree programs, with degree programs including general education courses as part of the overall curriculum. Academic programs may cover the first two years of a four year education and allow for transfer into a bachelor's program.

All applications to Wharton County Junior College are handled through Applytexas.org. To begin the application process students must make an account and submit their application online. Interested students should be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Financial aid is available for eligible students on a yearly basis in the form of grants, loans and scholarships. Eligibility is reviewed on yearly basis by WCJC.  Students interested in financial aid awards should contact the financial aid office to inquire about eligibility and financial aid options.

Athletics

Wharton County Junior College provides athletic programs at the intercollegiate level. Such programs are offered to encourage students to partake in teamwork, develop discipline, learn to socialize, and to maintain good mental and physical health.
