Ultrasound Technician Program
The ultrasound technician program at Central California School helps students gain knowledge in gathering sonographic data, using medical ultrasound techniques. The Central California School of Continuing Education in San Luis Obispo California is accredited by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and College (ACCSC) and has VA (Veterans Administration) Title IV approval to train veterans. The school currently offers five career educational programs in the following health care fields:
- Medical Assistant

- X Ray Technician
- X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant

The nine month Medical Assistant program prepares students for entry level positions. Upon completion of the program students can take California Certification for Medical Assistant Examination Sponsored by the California Certification Board for Medical Assistant in the areas of Administrative and Clinical. The total cost of the program including tuition, books, fees, and supplies is about $8,500 and the latest job placement rates show 73% of graduates finding employment.
The Dental Assistant program also takes nine months to complete at approximately the same cost with a job placement rate of 80%. This program is approved by the Dental Board of California. Upon completion of the program graduates earn a Dental Radiation Certificate.
Upon completion of the one year X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant program graduates are eligible to take certification examinations in two different concentrations. The total cost of the program is $11,500 with a 72% placement rate.
To enroll in the ten month X-Ray Technician program candidates must be Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or have prior experience. Candidates without the prerequisite qualifications can take the combined X-Ray Tech/Med Assist program.
The Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound program is a two year offering at a cost of about $16,500 with a 76% placement rate. The school also offers an advanced Diagnostic Medical Vascular Ultrasound program.
All Central California School of Continuing Education programs are offered on a week day schedule for local residents and on a weekend schedule for distant students.
