Central School of Practical Nursing – Independence (COTC)

Central School of Practical Nursing is the provider of the oldest Practical Nursing program in the state of Ohio and it is one the pioneer schools of its kind in the United States. Its campus conveniently situated at 4700 Rockside Road, in the Summit Park Offices of Independence, Ohio. CSPN primarily aims to strengthen and increase the healthcare workforce in the area.
This school is established in 1937 and since then, it has been known for academic excellence in the Northeast Ohio. At present, it still maintains high caliber education and offers the only independent PN program in the state.
The whole PN program lasts for 46 weeks and it has four levels. Each level involves classroom instruction and clinical training. Its curriculum is kept abreast with the dynamic world of healthcare. Moreover, incorporated in the program is training on IV therapy procedure and maintenance.
Accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, this school serves the diverse population of Cleveland and the surrounding areas. CSPN is affiliated with major healthcare institutions in the area. Clinical partnerships are also maintained with local hospitals, long-term care facilities, and outpatient/day centers throughout the Northeast Ohio Region where clinical trainings are conducted.
To supplement student's learning, CSPN provides the students with academic resources such as the Learning Center which offers educational assistance; Library with the resource materials available for the students; and the Nursing Skills Lab where real patient care is simulated to cultivate student's clinical skills. Graduates of this school are given employment assistance through job preparation training and career counseling.
