Cox College

Cox College in Springfield, MO, is a private, degree-granting not-for-profit institution that primarily grants baccalaureate degrees in health care specialties such as Registered Nursing, Medical Assisting and Dietetics. The mission of Cox College is to be committed to excellence by meeting the educational needs of students and the health care community.
The history of Cox College goes back to the founding of Burge Deaconess Training School for Nurses in 1907. Starting with all of three students at the time, the college began to offer its B.S.N. program exactly 90 years later – in 1997. In 2009, its M.S.N program was approved by the Higher Learning Commission. Since then, it has been accredited by a number of bodies including the Missouri State Board of Nursing and the Commission on Accreditation.
Tuition for associate and baccalaureate degrees runs at $369 per credit hour, while graduate programs cost $246 per credit hour. Financial aid in the form of loans and grants is available for qualifying students, and there are several scholarships awarded each year. In addition, there are discounts for specific programs as well. Graduate students may also apply for Federal Direct Graduate Student Loans.
The college offers several continuing education and life support course opportunities such as specialty courses and certification preparation. The Cox Health Workforce development program, which was recently awarded a $42,750 grant by the Missouri Hospital Association, is designed to develop managerial talent for the health system.
