Otsego Area BOCES - School of Practical Nursing offers high quality academic opportunities to prepare students for the licensure exam and create a strong foundation for a professional career in healthcare. Students are trained to become responsible and caring professionals bound to positively contribute to the community.

All students are given equal opportunities in this school, but to be considered for admission, the applicant must be 17 years old and above, and physically fit.  They must submit a copy of high school diploma or GED, official transcript, birth certificate, completed application form, three references, and autobiographical letter, and pass the aptitude examination.

The School of Nursing located at Oneonta, New York fosters an academic environment that nurtures continuous growth and development. Moreover, the curriculum is constantly evaluated and improved to ensure the quality of the academic offerings in this school.

Students are educated to provide safe, effective, patient centered care in different settings. They are engaged in theoretical instruction and hands-on training to acquire relevant clinical experience in cooperating agencies. After finishing the course, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN).

Otsego Area BOCES - School of Practical Nursing maintains high standard of performance among its students anchored on the ethical/legal framework established by the Nurse Practice Act and with emphasis on caring for others. It also strives to strengthen critical thinking and decision making ability of students which are essential to performing their job as future nurses.
