Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program

BOCES, or Boards of Cooperative Educational Services, operate as local school extensions to help meet the educational and financial goals of the Ulster County. It opens the community to effective, innovative and exciting education. It also aims to develop their students to achieve high standards of performance with emphasis on economic efficiencies.

And if you have chosen to take the path in becoming a nurse, consider the Ulster BOCES School of Practical Nursing. You will receive a national accredited training and a hands-on, work-oriented education. The Practical nursing program is composed of 1200 hours of classroom and clinical instruction. Choose from its full time day, full time evening and part day program schedules. The school will also prepare you to take the National Council Licensure Exam.

With a passing rate of 85% in New York State Licensing Board Exam, its graduates are employed immediately and/or confident to pursue RN Associate or BSN degrees.

To be a candidate for the program, you must have a high school diploma, GED or WES equivalency. File a complete application form, take the entrance exam, and comply the other requirements and fees.

When accepted, you will be required to attend a 5-day Medical Terminology class and an orientation to the program. You will also be eligible for VA educational benefits.
