Physical Education Degree

The physical education program at Blue Mountain College prepares students for careers teaching physical education in elementary, middle, or secondary school. Blue Mountain College

1500 Peachtree St, Jackson, MS

Blue Mountain College, located in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, was founded by confederate civil war general Mark P. Lowrey. Lowrey, a pastor, founded the school as a women's institute and the initial name given was the Blue Mountain Female Institute. Lowrey and his two daughters ran the institute, followed by Lowrey's two sons and grandson. Over time the school was given over to the Mississippi Baptist Convention, and in 2005 became a fully coeducational institution.
