About
California Lutheran University, located in Thousand Oaks, California, was founded in 1959 and was originally known as California Lutheran College. The school's location was donated by the Pederson family, who were among the many Scandinavian families living in the region at the time. The Scandinavian roots are still present at the school, celebrated through cultural festival every spring. The school is considered one the best school in the west and considered a leader in developing education standards. The school is constantly reviewing its program offerings and updating its facilities to ensure that the education provided is of the highest quality for its students.

Academics
As a Lutheran institution, California Lutheran University encourages students to ask important questions and to pursue their own answers as part of the process of discovery and development. The school offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through its three schools of study. Students in an undergraduate program will take lower and upper division courses focusing on their major alongside general education courses required to earn a bachelor's degree. Graduate programs require the student have a bachelor degree prior to applying in order to be considered for admission. Programs are also available through evening courses for those in need of a more flexible schedule.

Students interested in enrollment at California Lutheran University must submit an application along with their standardized test scores, transcripts and letters of recommendation. Students may also supply additional personal information they feel is relevant to admission. Once submitted the provided material will be reviewed and a decision made regarding admission, which will be sent to the student shortly thereafter. Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Athletics
The California Lutheran University Kingsmen participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III through the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Students participating in intercollegiate athletics will find an atmosphere of healthy competition and learn the value of good health, discipline and teamwork. Such programs allow students the opportunity to experience personal and team success as well as the support and camaraderie of others pursuing the same goal.
