Concordia University, located in Moorhead, Minnesota, was founded in 1891. The school was established to assist in the development and maintenance of Norwegian culture among settlers who had come to the area ten years prior. The school was established with a Lutheran foundation, and is part of the University of Concordia System, a collection of ten schools that operate independently but share information and resources as well as the Concordia name.
