Creighton University

Creighton University, located in Omaha, Nebraska, was founded in 1878 through a $100,000 donation by Mary Lucretia Leighton on behalf of herself and her late husband Edward Leighton to found a college or university. The school was founded with a Jesuit foundation, and operates today with Jesuit Catholic principles as its guiding ideal. The university was maintained and grew under the supervision of Edward Creighton's younger brother John, whose work with the institution allowed him to become a Knight of the Holy Roman Empire by Pope Leo XII in 1895. The school is one of 22 Jesuit institutions operating in the United States, and as a Jesuit institution it is dedicated to the pursuit of truth and the positive development of its students so that they may become competent, conscientious, and compassionate.

Academics

Admissions and Financial Aid

Applicants to Creighton University are admitted based on their academic performance, standardized test scores, the courses taken in high school, their extracurricular activities, personal statement and high school counselor evaluation.
