Psychology Degrees

The psychology program at Finlandia University prepares students for careers as case managers, psychiatric technicians, career counselors, and rehabilitation specialists. The program focuses on the scientific study of individual and collective behavior, the physical and environmental bases of behavior, and the analysis and treatment of behavior problems and disorders. Finlandia University (MCTI)

Finlandia University, located in Hancock, Michigan, was founded by pastor J.K. Nikander in 1896 as Suomi College. The college was formed to serve the growing Finnish community and to assist in the preservation of Finnish culture and the training of Finnish Evangelical Lutheran ministers. In 1920 the school became a liberal arts college, offering a larger number of programs and degrees. In 1958 the seminary separated from the college. The school officially changed its name to the current in 2000 to reflect its transition from a two year to four year institution. The school is affiliated Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

Academics

Finlandia offers associate and bachelor degree programs through its two schools and two colleges. The schools programs are founded in a liberal arts foundation in order to provide students with a comprehensive education and skill set. Programs are broken down into business, art and design, health science and arts and sciences. The various programs will prepare individuals academically and professionally.

Students interested in enrolling at Finlandia University may apply online. Admissions are accepted on a rolling basis, with some programs having a specific admissions deadline. Students are reviewed on a case by case basis, with students having a GPS lower than 2.0 having the possibility for admission but under academic probation. Financial aid is available through loans, grants and scholarships. Students interested in receiving financial aid should complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
