Manhattan College, located in New York City, New York, was founded in 1853 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, a Catholic order begun by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, also known as the patron saint of teachers. The school was originally located on the island of Manhattan, but currently resides in the New York City area known as the Bronx.

MC maintains strong ties to Catholic church, and believes in the Lasallian tradition of assisting the underprivileged and disadvantaged through education.  Manhattan College respects all individuals, has faith in God, offers a quality education, inclusive community that celebrates diversity, and a deep seeded concern for the poor and social justice.

Academics

Manhattan College offers undergraduate and graduate level studies through a diverse number of programs administered through its various schools. The school believes in providing a high quality education as outlined by the Lasallian tradition, valuing the nature and need for education at all socio-economic levels.

MC is best known for its engineering program, though the School of Arts is largest in terms of size, with the communications degree its largest program.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in enrollment at Manhattan College must provide a completed application, all pertinent transcripts, ACT and/or SAT scores, a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor and a personal essay. Once submitted, the enclosed material will be reviewed and a decision made for admissions.

Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans, scholarships and work study programs. Additionally, students may pay tuition through a payment plan that allows for the payment of a year of tuition over ten months. Financial aid eligibility and awards are determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Athletics
