English Degree

The English degree program at Montreat College prepares students for the general study of the English language, with attention to the history and structure of the language, as well as communication skills, and the literature and culture of English-speaking persons. History

Montreat College was founded in 1916 in Montreat, North Carolina. The school is a Christian college in the Presbyterian tradition, and stresses academic and religious importance. The school was originally formed as a retreat so that Christians has a place to worship freely, though that changes when it was proposed that the grounds and facilities should be used as a school during the academic year. Currently the school operates four campuses, the main campus in Montreat, a secondary campus in Black Mountain and adult studies campuses in Asheville and Charlotte.
