Religious Studies Degree
The religious studies program at Texas College prepares students for careers in variety of careers, such as law, medicine, government, and business. The program focuses on the nature of religious belief and specific religious and quasi-religious systems. Program courses include: phenomenology, sociology, psychology, philosophy, anthropology, literature and art of religion, mythology, scriptural and textual studies, religious history and politics, and specific studies of particular faith communities and their behavior. Texas College (TC)

Texas College is a nonprofit private historically black institution located in Tyler, Texas. Most historically black colleges and universities (also known as HBCUs) were founded after the civil war to provide newly freed African Americans with educational opportunities. The Christian Methodist Episcopal affiliation at the school is an important part of the history, education and mission that defines the school. The lower student/teacher ratio and access to faculty and teachers are due primarily to the smaller enrollment, around 930 students, maintained by Texas College.
