About
The University of Arkansas -  Monticello was founded in 1909 as the Fourth District Agricultural School with the intent to provide educational opportunities to the residents of southeast Arkansas. The school became a junior college in 1928, and a four year degree granting institution in 1940.

In 1971 the school was added to the University of Arkansas System, expanding its offerings and permanently changing the school's name. In 2003 the school expanded once more through the additions of UAM College of Technology - McGehee and UAM College of Technology - Crossett allowing for vocational and technical training throughout the southeast of the state resulting in certificate and associate degree programs.

Academics
The University of Arkansas - Monticello offers a large number of programs and majors, allowing enrolled students to choose the one that best suits future plans and goals. The completion of a bachelor degree program typically takes four years to complete, requiring the student to take a courses within their majors curriculum, general education classes, and electives.

Students may also pursue a minor degree, which allows a student to obtain an additional education in a second area of study, though not quite as intensively as a major. Graduate programs require a separate admissions process, with student having earned the necessary degree and GRE scores to be considered for admissions.

Students interested in enrollment at University of Arkansas - Monticello must submit an application for enrollment which may be done through the school's website. The information provided by the application will be reviewed along with transcripts and other provided information, followed by a decision regarding entry into a bachelor degree program. Students enrolling in associate degree or certificate programs will be admitted if they meet the minimum requirements for entry.

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is used to determine financial need, program eligibility and monetary awards. Due to national regulations students may be randomly selected to provide additional information to ensure the accuracy of the FAFSA. Financial aid must be reapplied for prior to the start of each academic year due to possible changes in financial circumstances of a given student and his or her family from year to year.

Athletics
The University of Arkansas - Monticello participates in a number of intercollegiate athletic programs through the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II in the Great Western Conference. Students participating in intercollegiate athletics will be able to develop useful skills, such as leadership, teamwork and discipline that can be applied to one's personal, professional and academic life.
