What is Missionary Studies?
Missions and Missionary Studies is a field of study focused traveling to proselytize and perform ministries of service. A degree program in missions and missionary studies may provide students with specific areas of emphasis such as literacy, education, health care, social justice, economic development, or belief-centered ministry. The word mission comes from the Latin term missionem meaning the “act of sending” or mittere which means “to send”. The term mission was universally used as a result of its biblical usage and subsequent Latin translation of the bible. That being said, many religions around the world perform missions including Christian, Islam, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Hindu, and Judaism.
