The field of radiologic technology is exciting. Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD offers an outstanding program. Since the discovery of the X-Ray in 1895, the field of radiologic sciences has grown to include diagnostic radiology, computerized imaging, radiation therapy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging. Radiologic technologist can use equipment to produce 2-D and 3-D images of tissue, organs, bones and vessels. Most radiographers specialize in mammography, computed tomography (CT) or other types of medical imaging. They use radio frequency to develop images. During their program of study students will take courses in Radiologic Technology, Professional Ethics, nursing, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Radiographic Physics, Routine Radiographic Procedures, Medical Terminology, and Emergency Radiography.
Graduates of the program for 2012-2103 finished the program without debt. All of them graduated on time and 100% passed the National Certification Examination on the first try. Eighty-three percent of graduates are employed or continuing their education.
