The English degree program at Morehouse College prepares students for the general study of the English language, with attention to the history and structure of the language, as well as communication skills, and the literature and culture of English-speaking persons. Morehouse College

Morehouse College, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is a historically African-American institute for men. The school was founded in 1867 by Baptist minister and cabinet maker William Jefferson White. The school originally known as the Augusta Institute, but as the school changed location over the year, so did its name. In 1913 the school received its current name which was given in honor of Dr. Henry L. Morehouse, an organizer of support for the college. The school is known for some of its notable alumni, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Director Spike Lee, and Atlanta's first black mayor Maynard Jackson. The school provides a quality liberal arts education to young black men, with a focus on civility, compassion, integrity and understanding, and has done so since its inception.

Students wishing to enroll at Morehouse College will be reviewed by the admissions board and accepted or denied based on the strength of their application.
