Agriculture Degree

The agriculture program at Kentucky State University prepares students to enter the farming, ranching, and agricultural business by combining research and hand-on training. Utilizing a combination of tools and knowledge, the program is designed to enhance and sustain human life by cultivating animals, plants, and other forms of food for basic consumption or for the creation of biofuels and drugs. Kentucky State University (KY State)

Kentucky State University is a public historically black institution located in Frankfort, Kentucky. Most historically black colleges and universities (also known as HBCUs) were founded after the civil war to provide newly freed African Americans with educational opportunities. As a land grant institution this school is one of the larger public institutions in the state of Kentucky. Approximately two thousand students are enrolled per year at Kentucky State University.

Students applying for admission are required to submit an application, transcripts, records, test scores and any requested application essays, which will then be reviewed by the admissions committee. Students may submit either the SAT or ACT exam scores to be considered for admissions at KY State. A score between 1120 to 1390 on the SAT, or 16 to 20 for the ACT is common among accepted students. An estimated 30% of all students that applied were accepted at Kentucky State University, with 19% of those accepted choosing to enroll. May classify and map soils and investigate effects of alternative practices on soil and crop productivity.

Agricultural Sciences Teachers, Postsecondary

Description

Teach courses in the agricultural sciences.
